At the International Women’s Day 2026 celebration, the conversation centered on how women in the maritime sector can be empowered through inclusion and mentorship in the workplace and in social circles.

The #watersidecentreng, in collaboration with Integrated Oil and Gas Company Nigeria Ltd., gave the female staff members a great opportunity to sit down at lunch to share their experiences.

Chairman of Integrated Oil and Gas Company Nig., Captain Emmanuel Iheanacho, shared with the audience that inclusivity is about creating an environment where everyone feels valued and respected and empowered to contribute. It is also about embracing diversity in all its forms as well to foster a culture of belonging.

The Founder and CEO of the Waterside Centre NG, Dr Hope Orivri, charged participants to make good use of opportunities available to them for self-development. She encouraged the women to be particular about their #wellness, which is strength for their #worklife and outside of the work environment.

Guest speaker, Chief Jean Chiazor Anishere, SAN, considering the importance of sustainability in human capital, encouraged the women to undertake regular self-assessments of the value they add to their work and to themselves. #iwd2026, #apapa, #mentorship, #maritime,
