Lifestyle contributes heavily to kidney health, says Dr Rotimi Williams Braimoh, a Professor of Nephrology at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Lagos.
He emphasizes the importance of drinking sufficient water, taking low-salt diets, and avoiding self-medication with painkillers.
Other risk factors like hypertension, diabetes, and infections must be properly managed.
Sadly, kidney disease symptoms only begin to manifest when so much damage would have occurred.

He explains:

 The dangers of high-salt diets, infections, self-medication with some pain-relievers, and skin-beaching creams.
 Why kidney cells die, and the point when the remaining cells can no longer support the kidney function.
 The cost of maintaining a failing kidney.
 Dealing with Chronic Kidney Disease.
